The 5Ps of Presentation

The 5Ps of Presentation: Embellished by me after learning from Frank Ryan of Vox Bandicoot, who was taught it by Steve Van Matre of the Earth Education Institute.

I wish I could work more in schools. This is a talk I've delivered five times now. It covers change, what a new sustainability led economy might looks like, what environmental challenges we face and change practice. It even has a bit of Vox Bandicoot environmental theatre thrown in. The video quality isn't the best, but I thought it worth posting in case teachers are running a sustainability unit. Suitable for grade five to year nine students.

The LaTrobe University Environmental Health Issues course has gone online: I was asked to put together these two videos for them. Enjoy!

"We Are the Earth" is a short talk I've been giving for many years. The video was funded by La Trobe University in 2014 and created in collaboration with La Trobe University staff for Environmental Health Issues (PHE2EHI).

"A Day in the Life: Sustainable 2036" began as a talk for "Outside the Square" in Bendigo in 2013. This video was funded by La Trobe University in 2014 and created in collaboration with La Trobe University staff for Environmental Health Issues (PHE2EHI).

Can the Environment and the Economy Thrive Together? Good for the earth is good for business. Keynote presentation by Ian McBurney followed by Q & A. Ian believes passionately that at this time in history when every natural system is in decline, it is people and therefore culture change that will gift us a sustainable society. That society will be better for us in nearly every way. We'll be more local and connected, happier, healthier, more profitable and more proud of who we are.

A one off presentation: Our Connections to Each Other and The Earth

This one meant a lot to me. I weave these themes through all my talks, but this time they were the central theme. Its slower paced than my usual professional talks, it goes for 45 mins, but I love it. Trees, Webs & Hives was a project exploring the importance of connection in our lives, personally, socially and environmentally. By using trees, webs and hives as models for connection the project engaged arts practices as well as intellectual knowledge in finding ways that being connected makes us healthier and happier, and how our community might also become healthier. The project produced a large, multi-panel artwork and hosted a series of talks. The project was produced by CreateAbility, an organisation that provides arts opportunities for people of all abilities, in partnership with Bendigo Library.
